Our ethos and objective
The Little Star ethos is one of fun, security and inclusiveness. Our objective is to make sure every child leaves Little Star well prepared for the road of learning that lies ahead.
Play comes first
Play is the central part of our Little Stars' development, and we use it to support their social, intellectual, emotional, physical and creative growth.
Every child, as themselves
Our teachers do their utmost to make sure each child gets the stimulation and attention they need, based on who they are.
Rounded development
We focus on the whole child: their social, educational and physical development.
Everyone belongs
Little Star is non-sectarian but built on a foundation of good moral values. We celebrate and teach about the religious occasions of all our children.
Keith and Cindy Lindsay
that's us!Keith and Cindy founded Little Star in 2010 to meet the need for a professional, high-quality playschool in the area. They continue to serve as the school's governors today.
Cindy looks after applications and the day-to-day management of the school, so she's the person you'll meet when you come for a tour.
Qualified, caring teachers
All of our teaching staff are qualified to the appropriate level and receive regular training. Teachers hold a minimum of ECD NQF Level 4, and all our staff are first aid certified and retrain regularly.
Our head teacher is responsible for the quality of the curriculum, teaching and children's well-being across the school. Each class has a dedicated teacher and teaching assistant (some classes have two assistants), who make sure every day is full of playing, learning and exploring. They get to know each child as an individual so that every child gets the most out of their time at Little Star.
Following the school year
Little Star follows the Western Cape Education Department's annual calendar.
Sometimes we adjust term dates slightly for operational reasons, such as welcoming a new intake of Little Stars. Any changes are always shared with parents well in advance.
